Ballyduff: Computer courses for the over 55s

It’s a sign of its success that the computer course for the over 55s is fully booked, and already taking names for another course in the autumn. 33 people have enrolled, half of whom are members of the Ballyduff Active Retirement Group, and will be assisted by 7 voluntary tutors (with 3 to 4 tutors working at any one session with a group of 11 people max.)

This initiative has been spear-headed by “Age Action”, and is coordinated locally by Kathleen McAuliffe, who says that there has been a great response from Ballyduff. All the classes are on a Tuesday, in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Kathleen explained that “The classes are for people who have never used a computer before. They are a basic introduction, and we will be working with people from where they are at, making sure that they understand each step before going on to the next one.”
